Well very first let's let you present yourself. AF: Hi everyone. I am a speech therapist and train special education instructor and have actually been working in the field of education for quite some time now.
Some things were falling through the cracks for them and they were having a hard time. Therefore we started to see the very same patterns of behavior, time and time once again with, these students that, you understand, often when they're in high school and transitioning check here to college, we take a look at them and we say their failure to launch, or sometimes they're, they're the ones that go to college.
What, you know, what the trouble is. So we started to look at those students in specific and what we discovered was that they all had the very same pattern of, of really demonstrating weak points in the locations of executive function. So that's, you understand, where I started to truly take a look at it and, and you know, beginning with the college age and then truly moving down to high school and intermediate school and we see often times that students start battling with these abilities as early as upper grade school and middle school, clerk, you know, so I more than happy to be here.
Executive Functions
I was introduced to the idea of executive operating abilities when I first became a supporter, luckily. And it's definitely one of those things where if it's present, I believe you take it for granted if you have good skills.
And after that I discover that a great deal of parents can't really define that. You know, they, they understand what they're seeing. And then I state, well, is it this is it this is it this And then they're like, Oh yeah. And I resemble, fine, you have executive working issues.
